At first I wanna welcome all of you to explore the fascinating saga of Kushtia.. Traditionally Kushtia known as the cultural hub of Bangladesh. An ancient settlement emerging from the laden deposit of Ganges basin, Kushtia district represents a timeless frame of Bangladesh and Bangalees with its meandering and crisis crossing rivers, idyllic scenic beauty and typical people, Notable individuals, their achievements, sites of antiquity have largely contributed to the splendour of Kushtia as a unique place of Bangladesh.

How to go 

As you travel from north by train, a splendid rail bridge over Padma river  welcomes you at Pabna - Kushtia border constructed in 1909 and opened for used in 1915 for easier travel between Calcutta and Eastern Bangla.. The magnificent rail bridge is named after by the british lord Lord Hardinge, now it is called Hardinge Bridge. It was ancient iron bridge and still open for rail.  Many poet like Rabindranath Tagore also wrote about this bridge. It was also known as "Shara Bridge".  Beside this bridge there is Lalon Shah Bridge for other vehicles. Beside the bridge there is a Majar of Soleman Fakir where held huge fair and many people gather there to enjoy crowd and various village culture. If you enter Kushtia from south bangla then you become a witness of a part of history. First railway station was built in Bangladesh was Jagati-Darshana railway station. There is a famous sugar mill beside station named Jagati Sugar mill.

Shilaidah Kuthibari

Rabindranath Tagore told Shilaidah was his inspiration to write his novel and poem. The nature, surrounding of river and trees kept him in illusion. He wrote most of his novel, short stories and poem in his Shilaidah Kuthibari. He wrote our national anthem "Amar Sonar Bangla" from his Kuthibari which is situated in Shilaidah, Kushtia. Many people come here on the occasion of Tagore's birthday and death day. Shilaidah is only 20 k.m. away from the main town of Kushtia. You can see there all the furniture and his memories. A peaceful place.



Mohini Mill

The famous textile mill of subcontinent named Mohini Mill is in Kushtia. Mohini Mohon Chakravarty established it in 1908 about 100 acres of land. Mill was famous for its pure Dhuti and Sharee.  Though it is quite close now but if you go there, it'll remind you about a glorious past of the mill.



                                                           Tagore Lodge

Tagore lodge was used by the Tagore's family member. Rabindranath Tagore used it to look after his family business. Long time he stayed here when he came in business purpose. It was situated in Kobi Azizur Rahman Road.



                                                           LALON SHAH MAJAR

     Lalon Shah was a mystic poet, spiritual leader, reformer and composer of Baul. His birth and death is debatable but he was buried in the Cheuria, Kushtia. It was familiar for mystic bard of Baul community. Every occasion of Lalon's birth and death date a huge function and fail is held every year. Many tourists come every year on this occasion. It was arranged twice in a year. One is 15-17 0ctober for death anniversary and another may be first of year (February-March) in birth anniversary. Other You can enjoy many unknown things and some special spot which is totally different experience to you. You can discuss and gather knowledge about ancient culture and life of Lalon Shah from many Baul. It's give you extra feelings. May be you like it very much or don't. Don't get me wrong but i think you should go a visit to it.


                            MEER MOSARROF HOSSAIN'S HOMESTEAD

Fmous writer of Bishad Shindhu, Jamidar Darpan etc. is Meer Mosarrof Hossain. He got many literature award of Bangla Literature. His home-land is situated beside Kushtia- Rajbari highway in Lahini-para. He also touched approximately all stairs of Bengali Literature. You can see Meer Mosarrof Hossain Meseum and Library here.


                                                  RADHA BINOD PAUL

Radha Binod Paul was the vice chancellor of Calcutta University and a jurist of "United Nation's International Law Comission" in World War 2. He was born in Mirpur Upazila in Kushtia. There you can see his homestead. He was main jury and save Japan during world war.


FOOD ITEMS

Two sweet item is best and epic in Kushtia. These are "Kulfi ice-cream" and "Kushtiar Tiler Khaja". Don't forget to taste if you go there.

With it's enriched culture, literary and socio-political heritage Kushtia is unique place in Bangladesh.
